Michelle Mattioli (l), a representative from BAMA Works, the Dave Matthews Band Foundation in Charlottesville, recently met with members of the Louisa Downtown Development Corporation to discuss a 2007 grant application request for $20,000.
The funds would assist with the completion of the Louisa Arts Center in the Louisa Town Hall on Fredericksburg Avenue.
BAMA Works has already donated $10,000 toward furnishings and equipment for the project.
LDDC’s board of directors will oversee the future operation of the auditorium and gallery, and the organization is continuing its fund-raising campaign.
Mary Jane Clarke, (l-r) LDDC vice president, Shirley Stewart, grantwriter, and Patricia Purcell, LDDC secretary, also stand in the gallery that is under construction and slated to open in late summer. More information on the project is available at the website, or to donate, contact LDDC chairperson, Pam Stone, at (540) 967-2582.
