A word from the Artist:
“My name is Kateryna and I am a self-taught artist. I live in the beautiful state of Virginia on Lake Anna, but originally I am from Ukraine. The first time in my life I took a brush in my hands about 2 years ago at age 33. I still do not have an explanation why I suddenly decided to try and paint in oil, but it became my passion and hobby. I watched and learned from multiple tutorials and videos, succeeding and failing in my practice painting, despite that,t I always enjoy the painting process. In 2019 I started to display my paintings at the Mineral farmers market and participated in local art shows. I also started my very own painting parties and classes over in my studio on Lake Anna and it’s been very successful! My students always leave proud of their painting results. Today, my paintings are displayed in four gift shops.
I have a little tradition: every time I sell my paintings, complete commission paintings, or get a reward for hosting a painting party, a percentage of the payment I get I transfer to a volunteer organization in my little hometown in Ukraine. That organization takes care of orphans and families in need, and I receive updates and photos of happy children with toys or baskets of food. So, it’s a win-win for everyone!”
