UpCycle Recycle features area artists who have creatively interpreted this subject to create a wide variety of art. From clothing to repurposed trash to paint applied to used items, this exhibit will make you see the world around you in a new and different way. Seeing beauty in the old, the worn down, and the used.
The exhibit is free and open to the public Tuesdays – Fridays from 12 -4.
About the Curator
Emma Lou Martin
Emma Lou Marchant Martin devotes herself to enriching the art community wherever she is. As president of the Metropolitan Artists’ Association, she was the moving force in founding Uptown Art Gallery in 1992. She has worked as a workshop painting teacher, art consultant, an exhibitor, and museum docent. Emma Lou is a life member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, a founding member of the Mid-Atlantic Pastel Society and the Virginia Collage Society. She has won awards in pastel, print making, collage, oils and watercolor. She has exhibited in numerous shows throughout the United
States and has had color exhibits throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Her art can be found in numerous corporate collections including: Media General, Capitol One, Reynolds Community College, ER Carpenter Corp, Birdsong Peanut Corp, Federal Reserve Bank, UVA Hospital, VCU MCV Hospital, Philip Morris (Altria), and private collections worldwide.
