Catherine Hillis is moving in August.  This may be your last chance for a Hillis painting.  Some of her art will be ON SALE starting at her closing reception on July 14th until the show closes on July 28th.

Catherine Hillis has painted all her life, winning hundreds of awards and honors at competitive
shows regionally and nationally. She is one of 40 elected members of the prestigious
Washington Society of Landscape Painters in Washington, D.C. and has earned Signature
Membership status in watercolor organizations across the country.
The artist regularly competes national and international watercolor competitions. During the
past few years, Hillis has been invited paint in many plein air competitions across the country.
She won “Best in Show” at the 2015 Piedmont Plein Air in High Point, NC and “Honorable
Mention for her Quick Draw in the 2015 Curacao Plein Air and Honorable Mention at the Plein
Air Paintersof the Southeast, 2016 and in New Iberia, LA in 2016. She has also won the Juror’s
Choice Award in Ellicott City, 2013, Honorable Mention (2012) and Best Nocturnal
(2014) at the Mountain Maryland Plein Air in Cumberland, MD.
Hillis served as Artist in Residence in Dinan, France and at Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas.
She has been featured in numerous publications including the April 2017 edition of
Watercolor Artist Magazine and Splash 18, a collection of contemporary American paintings
to be published this spring.
Catherine Hillis primarily paints in watermedia, including busy street scenes, coastal landscapes
and her favorite, the historic sights near her home on the Blue Ridge in Virginia. The
hallmarks of her work are the effects of light and movement with a touch of humor.
She exhibits her work in galleries and offers workshops across the country and abroad.
